Volunteer Day 2015 in SingaporeUnited Way is a big deal at Scripps Networks Interactive. The company supports the organization in a number of ways, and encourages employees to do the same.

Last year, our employees donated more than $500,000 to the annual giving campaign. The giving spirit aligns with our core values of Compassion/Support and Shared Responsibility.

The official kick-off of the United Way campaign each fall initiates a flurry of activity that includes the company’s annual It was a Volunteer Day. Hundreds of Scripps Networks employees around the world will fan out on Sept. 30 to mulch gardens, paint classrooms, helpwith animals at local humane shelters and perform any number of other volunteer activities in their local communities. They can choose their own agency to assist, or participate in any of numerous group projects. In 2015, more than 700 employees across three continents
worked to help more than 70 non-profit organizations.
This year’s United Way campaign runs through Oct. 14.

Through its mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to
advance the common good, United Way works for the causes of education, income and health in 1,800 local branches across 40 countries and territories.

This year’s Volunteer Day theme is Live, Love, Give. “For any cause that you love, I encourage you to get involved on Volunteer Day and beyond – it’s true that you often get back as much as you give,” said Scripps Networks CEO Ken Lowe, in support of employees’ efforts.
