Scripps Networks Interactive rings in the new year with positive ratings news for 2017, complemented by its digital division Scripps Lifestyle Studios, which more than tripled 2016 performance (+257 percent), with more than 18.8 billion video views for the year. December was a record-breaking month across the company’s entertainment apps, growing visitors by 40 percent and video views by 91 percent over last year. These video platforms include TVE apps for HGTV, Food Network, and Travel Channel, and the digital brand Genius Kitchen.
In 2017, HGTV delivered its third highest rated year ever, ranking as the No. 2 cable net among W25-54 and No. 8 among A25-54. The network continues to attract an upscale audience, again capturing the No. 1 cable spot among upscale W25-54 for the eleventh consecutive year (and ranking as the No. 5 cable net among upscale A25-54). Ratings drivers included Flip or Flop, Brother vs. Brother, Home Town, Fixer Upper, Caribbean Life, and Island Life.
Food Network wrapped 2017 ranking as the No. 8 cable net among W25-54 and No. 14 among A25-54. Shows driving the network ratings were Food Network Star, Iron Chef Gauntlet, Holiday Baking Championship, and Worst Cooks in America.
Travel Channel enjoyed year-over-year gains among both M25-54 (up 10 percent) and A25-54 (up 5 percent). The network posted 10 percent ratings growth among A25-54 in December alone. Rating drivers for 2017 included Expedition Unknown and Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations, each with their highest rated seasons ever. Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern also surged, delivering its highest rated season since 2011. 
DIY Network delivered its highest ever household rating for December, up 34 percent over last year. The network also posted 12 percent growth among A25-54, driven by Building Off the Grid, Texas Flip N Move, Bargain Mansions, and Maine Cabin Masters. A successful finish to this year helped lift the net’s fourth quarter 3 percent over last year among A25-54 viewers, making it the highest rated fourth quarter since 2014.
Cooking Channel finished the year with 10 percent year-over-year growth among M25-54 and 3 percent growth among A25-54. Rating drivers for the year included Man Fire Food and Carnival Eats.
Great American Country completed 2017 with ratings growth among both M25-54 (up 9 percent) and A25-54 (up 2 percent). Rating drivers for the year included Flea Market Flip, Going RV, and Log Cabin Living.
