November 2016 was the highest rated November in network history for weekend viewing at HGTV, with a 5 percent A25-54 increase over last year. Among W25-54, HGTV was the second highest rated cable network in weekends. The month was also the net’s highest rated November primetime among M25-54, a 14 percent jump over last year. Ratings drivers for the month included Fixer Upper, Property Brothers and Flip or Flop.
Food Network tied for No. 8 in primetime cable for November among W18-49 and tied for No. 10 among A18-49. Primetime delivery was led by solid performing holiday programming, with Holiday Baking Championship, Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, Guys Grocery Games and new series Clash of the Grandmas driving the month.
Travel Channel’s November ratings drivers included Expedition Unknown, Mysteries at the Museum and Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations. The Nov. 16 episode of Expedition Unknown posted one of the highest rated prime telecasts of the year to date. The Nov. 22 episode of Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations posted its highest rated episode of the series to date.
DIY Network delivered its highest rated and most watched November in primetime among W25-54, up 12 percent year-over-year. November also marked the eleventh consecutive month of year-over-year growth among women, and the ninth consecutive month of growth among P25-54. Top shows included the various Flip N Move series, as well as Barnwood Builders and Holmes: Buy It Right.
Cooking Channel continues its impressive ratings growth, marking its highest rated and most watched November on record among P25-54 and W25-54 in primetime. November ratings were bolstered by the Season 2 of Food: Fact or Fiction? (up 50 percent year-over-year among A25-54) and premieres of Sugar Showdown (up 29 percent year-over-year among A25-54). The network has posted year-over-year sales growth among W25-54 for the past 10 out of 11 months.
Also in November, Great American Country celebrated its highest rated and most watched November since 2009 among P25-54. The network delivered its eighth consecutive month of year-over-year growth in primetime, with a 32 percent increase among P25-54, a 31 percent lift among W25-54, and a 43 percent jump among M25-54. November’s success was led by Flea Market Flip and Extreme RVs
