Even if you’re reading this from outside Tennessee, you’ve likely heard about the devastating wildfires that have ravaged the beautiful nearby hills that Scripps Networks Interactive calls home. All of us here in Knoxville have been shaken by the recent fires that have burned hundreds of acres in our beloved Smoky Mountains, disrupting thousands of lives in East Tennessee.

To help with this situation, Scripps Networks is making a $100,000 donation, plus matching employee donations of up to $2,500 when given to one of four agencies aiding in the fighting of the fires and the recovery for our neighbors: American Red Cross, Friends of the Smokies, Second Harvest and the Sevier County Humane Society.

Our hearts and minds are with all those who have been impacted by these tragic events, as well as those who continue to fight fires to protect people, wildlife, land and property.

“Taking this action is the right thing for Scripps Networks Interactive to do for our community, and for all our friends and neighbors who live in it,” said Ken Lowe, president, chairman and CEO of Scripps Networks Interactive.

It’s just another example of how we demonstrate neighborly kindness and corporate responsibility.
