Warsaw and Knoxville, Tennessee [November 30, 2017] TVN, the leading Polish multi-platform media company, has formed a pioneering partnership with George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs.
TVN’s news networks TVN24 and TVN24 Bis, as well as nightly broadcast news show Fakty, provide the leading and most authoritative news coverage in Poland. The partnership with GWU is designed to enable TVN to continuously strengthen its commitment to the finest possible journalism.
The partnership will kick off this month, and will be led by acclaimed journalist and former CNN anchor and special correspondent Frank Sesno, presently the director of the Media and Public Affairs program at George Washington University. TVN’s senior news department managers will be responsible for the program. The ongoing initiative will begin with visits to TVN from top news professionals and academics, followed by exchanges to share best practices between TVN journalists and GWU in Washington, D.C.
Sesno said of the team interfacing with TVN: “Our team is eager to begin this groundbreaking partnership. This project has attracted some of our most accomplished researchers and experts in journalism's best practices – a team that has helped to define the meaning of responsible and effective journalism.”
Scripps Networks International and TVN Management Board President Jim Samples added: “TVN has built its reputation on its news coverage over the last 20 years of Fakty and 16 years of TVN24. We are excited with the prospect of working with GWU to ensure that TVN is a leader not only in Poland, but a standard setter among the world’s most respected news organizations."
