KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 19, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Scripps Lifestyle Studios, the digital production arm of leading media developer Scripps Networks Interactive (Nasdaq:SNI), today announced the launch of a new digital, food-focused brand called Genius Kitchen, featuring a full site, social, and immersive app.
Genius Kitchen is a digital food experience targeted at 21 to 35 year-olds who grew up in an on-demand world and are obsessed with food. Beginning today, consumers can get a taste of the new brand's flavor at GeniusKitchen.com, and then enjoy the full range of content in October via Apple TV, Amazon, Android, YouTube, and the Roku® platform, among others.
Genius Kitchen will boast a delightful mix of new and classic favorites, including GK Now, a weekly show hosted by comedic YouTube personalities Akilah Hughes and Mike Lockyer, along with various co-hosts, who talk crazy food trends (what is turmeric, and why is it in your latte?), pop culture, and other news that fascinates the young and hungry. In addition to new originals, other familiar favorites will be reimagined for fresh runs. Users will enjoy tons of recipe videos, favorite how-tos, creative cooking tips, and of course, viral-worthy, social-first content.
Part of the genius behind Genius Kitchen is that it goes beyond entertainment to actually deliver recipes to viewers while they're watching content. Pulling from Genius Kitchen's vast library of more than half a million recipes, fans can command instant recipe delivery directly to the device of their choice.
"Digital food video is exploding, and younger generations are hungry for new and unique ways to -˜watch what they eat,' so to speak," said Kathleen Finch, Scripps Networks Interactive's Chief Programming, Content and Brand Officer. "No other media company is better positioned to introduce this level of investment in premium food content."
Vikki Neil, General Manager of Scripps Lifestyle Studios, added: "Genius Kitchen is not like anything else that exists today; it's a brilliant way to connect the worlds of food entertainment and utility. And advertisers will love the innovative branded content opportunities we have in store."
Digital media veteran Rich Lacy, Senior Vice President of Digital Brand Creative at Scripps Networks, was tapped to oversee content development of the venture, assembling a New York-based staff and crew of digital natives that create content at a dedicated Genius Kitchen studio in the Union Square area of Manhattan.
Scripps Lifestyle Studios is well situated to deliver even more impactful digital assets via this unique and innovative platform having established itself as the leader in lifestyle video. So far in 2017, the Studios has delivered more than 12.6 billion total video views, an increase of 282 percent over the same period last year.
