Fans Get To Engage With Network Stars During HGTV All-Day Twitter Party

NEW YORK—December 3, 2015-- HGTV will showcase an all-premiere lineup on New Year’s Day that includes new series, one-hour specials, fresh episodes of viewer favorites and the network’s hugely popular day-long Twitter party with HGTV and DIY Network stars. The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT with Rose Parade 2016, hosted by Drew and Jonathan Scott from the Emmy® nominated series Property Brothers and Emmy® Award-winning entertainment journalist Nancy O’Dell. Josh Temple, popular host from DIY Network’s House Crashers, will offer live street-side perspectives and spectator interviews from the parade route.

“We just can't seem to get enough of the Rose Parade, so we’re returning as hosts for the third time,” said Drew. “This is our favorite time of the year and it is an exciting experience to be part of one of the largest parades in the world.”

“You can expect all the same fun we've had in the past,” added Jonathan. “Let’s hope that this year Drew worked on his floral pronunciations.”

In a New Year’s Day treat for viewers, HGTV will air the one-hour special Ellen’s Design Challenge: Meet the Cast. The special will introduce the 10 talented season two contestants selected for Ellen’s Design Challenge, the wildly popular furniture design competition that was first conceptualized by television icon and entertainment pioneer Ellen DeGeneres. The network’s all-premiere New Year’s Day lineup also will include series and specials that showcase spectacular tiny homes, wilderness retreats and sunny beachside home tours. Series premieres will include Mexico Life and My Lottery Dream Home, while new one-hour specials include Mighty Tiny Houses and HGTV Dream Home 2016, which offers viewers the first on-air look at the breathtaking new home in Merritt Island, Florida.  In a special episode of Fixer Upper, Chip and Joanna Gaines will highlight their favorite home renovations from the series, while premiere episodes of Caribbean Life; Tiny House, Big Living; Tiny Luxury; Tiny House Hunters; Island Life; House Hunters and House Hunters International will round out the day’s offerings.
“New Year’s Day viewing is all about fun, family and relaxation,” said Allison Page, general manager, HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country. “So to complement the Rose Parade, our offerings will focus on fantasy lifestyles and adventurous living. It’s the perfect day to reimagine our homes and lifestyles.”
