Hickok, Clayton to Guide Lifestyle Media's Financial and Strategic Planning FunctionsCINCINNATI, Jan 15, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. (NYSE: SNI), as part of its ongoing reorganization since becoming an independent, publicly traded company, has defined leadership roles for two of its key financial executives.

Lori A. Hickok, 46, has been named executive vice president of finance for the company's Lifestyle Media operating division. She will simultaneously retain her title and responsibilities as senior vice president of finance for the parent company.

James B. Clayton, 55, has been named executive vice president of planning and strategy for the Lifestyle Media operating division. Clayton was a member of the original management team that was instrumental in the launch of HGTV in 1994 and helped guide the subsequent growth and expansion of the company's Lifestyle Media businesses.

The Lifestyle Media operating division - which also is known in the industry as Scripps Networks - includes the company's portfolio of nationally popular television networks and related interactive content businesses.

Scripps Networks television brands include HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, DIY Network, Great American Country and Fine Living Network. The company is in the process of rebranding Fine Living to the Cooking Channel. In addition to branded Web sites associated with all of its television networks, the company owns and operates RecipeZaar.com, HGTV Pro.com, FrontDoor.com and other home- and food-related Internet destinations.

"We're fortunate to have two of our industry's most skilled financial professionals overseeing these critically important functions," said Joseph G. NeCastro, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Scripps Networks Interactive. "As the company has grown, we've determined that a more clearly defined and focused division of responsibilities as it relates to our various financial disciplines is in order. Having been here since the origins of our Lifestyle Media business, Lori and Jim have both the professional expertise and institutional knowledge needed to guide us forward."

As the operating division's executive vice president of finance, Hickok will direct internal financial processes, including management reporting, budgeting and long-range strategic planning. Her responsibilities will include developing and implementing companywide financial policies. In her role with the parent company, Hickok will continue to oversee all finance functions, including external reporting, treasury and tax matters.

Clayton, as executive vice president of planning and strategy, will oversee the development of long-range strategic plans for Scripps Networks brands and will manage the Lifestyle Media business segment's annual planning cycle, including operating and capital budgets. He also will provide analysis and decision support for capital allocation decisions within the operating division.

"The creative process that's driven the success of our networks and Web sites can't happen without the support and direction of talented financial executives," said John F. Lansing, president of Scripps Networks and an executive vice president of the parent company. "Jim Clayton has been a valued member of our management team for 15 years and will continue to play a pivotal role in the company's ongoing success. Lori Hickok is a tenacious and disciplined professional, who we will rely upon to structure and guide our financial operations. Together, they provide us with the financial horsepower befitting a rapidly growing, 21st century media company."

Hickok was named senior vice president of finance for Scripps Networks Interactive when the company was spun out from The E. W. Scripps Company in July 2008. She had served six years as vice president and controller for E. W. Scripps prior to the spin. She has worked as a financial manager for Scripps companies since 1988. A certified public accountant, Hickok has a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Clayton has been executive vice president of finance and business affairs and chief financial officer for the Scripps Networks operating division since 1994. He joined the company when his previous employer, Cinetel Productions, was acquired by Scripps that year. Clayton had been with Cinetel for five years before the Scripps acquisition. A certified public accountant, Clayton has a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee.
