M, your helpful assistant in Messenger, will now begin offering users who are discussing recipes the option to browse through Food Network’s vast catalog of trusted recipes through the Food Network Messenger chat extension to help them make their choice. Food and messaging are inherently social, making this experience valuable to food lovers looking to find the perfect recipe for dinner tonight.
This is how it works - when a person in a one to one or group conversation mentions that they are looking for a recipe in a Messenger conversation, M will suggest they find a recipe using the Food Network chat extension. So, if you ask your friend “do you have a recipe for chicken tacos?” M will suggest you “find recipes”. If you click on the suggestion, the Food Network chat extension will pop up and you can easily search for a chicken taco recipe. You can also browse the chat extension to discover and search for new recipes and make faster and easier choices when shopping at grocery store and planning your next meal.
“We have been experiencing incredible success using the Food Network bot for Messenger to share social videos and provide people with new recipes every day “said Liesel Kipp, Vice President of Product Management at Scripps Lifestyle Studios, the digital division of Scripps Networks Interactive that handles Food Network's digital ventures. “This new suggestion from M will make it easier than ever for people to discover and use the Food Network chat extension to find classic recipes, tips, and seasonal favorites and share with friends to make any meal, party, or event even more memorable.”
“Chat extensions are a great way for people to connect with brands they love, together, right in their Messenger conversations,” said Kemal El Moujahid, Product Manager for Messenger. “This new suggestion from M makes it even easier for people to discover the Food Network’s chat extension, delightfully making recipe suggestions while you’re chatting about preparing dinner."

Launched in November of 2016, the Food Network Messenger Bot can help customers chat about and browse through over 60,000 trusted Food Network recipes by key ingredient, level of difficulty, their favorite chef, and even what ingredients they currently have in their homes. Whether you want to send an emoji and receive a collection of seasonal recipes or find a chicken tetrazzini recipe that will please the whole family, Food Network’s Messenger Bot has a dish for every cook at any level. All recipes are housed on FoodNetwork.com and are curated by professional chefs and Food Network talent and staff.
