Senior Vice President, National Ad Sales, Scripps Networks Interactive
Karen Grinthal joined Scripps Networks in 1997 and has been Senior Vice President of Ad Sales for Food Network since 1999. In that time, Food Network has grown from a fledgling mid-size network to a top tier brand in the cable marketplace. Her areas of responsibility include revenue for both Food Network and Cooking Channel, as well as convergent revenue for FoodNetwork.com, CookingChannelTV.com and Food.com. Grinthal and her team are particularly proud of the creative media and marketing solutions Food Network and Cooking Channel bring to their partners.
Prior to joining Food Network, Grinthal served as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications at Turner Broadcasting Sales, Inc., where she was in charge of improving the communications process between the ad sales division, clients and advertising agencies. Grinthal joined Turner in 1988 as an account executive and rose through the sales ranks to Senior Vice President of Ad Sales for Turner’s entertainment division.
Grinthal also spent several years in radio sales, and began her career on the agency side in media planning at Doyle Dane Bernbach. She is a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications and Advertising Women of New York, and serves on the board of Young Audiences New York.
Grinthal holds a bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College.
