U.S networks cook up 14% ad revenue increase
Strong performances by its U.S. cable network helped propel Scripps Networks Interactive to a big jump in earnings in the first quarter.

First-quarter net income more than doubled to $290.9 million, or $2.24 per share, from $123.8 million, or 94 cents, a year ago.

Revenues were up 24% to $816.9 million. Domestic advertising growth was 14%, the biggest increase for the company in five years.

The strong performance led the company to increase its full-year profit guidance to 8%. From 7%.
